Mammals

We have been talking about critters a lot lately. The girls seem to soak up information and remember all sorts of crazy things. So this morning, Lexi surprised me with her little tidbit of knowledge.

We had talked all about the characteristics of mammals last week. So Lexi comes running up to me, lifts her shirt, and says, "Mommy, I have nipples on my belly, cause I'm a manimal!" Aka, mammal...

I can't get enough of these silly girls!!

Growing Up

It's official. The highchairs now live in the garage. It is so much fun having the girls at the table with us. Now they actually like eating with forks, are about to be done with sippy cups, and wipe/wash their own hands in the sink. Seriously, they keep growing so fast!

Lexi...

Peanut butter & jelly time...

They are also doing stuff like this...letting me put them up in our tree and stepping away. For the first time, I knew they wouldn't try to jump out or fall to the ground. They knew to hold on AND be careful!

Lilly...
We are planning to start swim lessons next month and have them through the basic class before summer, so they will be ready for the pool and can then take a ballet/tumbling combo class when they turn 3. What an exciting time!

Brown Paper Grocery Bag

Well maybe not paper...felt! The girls got a play kitchen for Christmas from Nana and Papa Epps and there is plastic food all over the place. :) Lilly was struggling to carry a bunch of it back to the kitchen and kept dropping it. It just occurred to me that I could whip something up really quick and the girls could use it for carrying around some of the food.

I had an abundance of tan felt, so here is what I did. It was SO easy!! I cut these 4 rectangular pieces...

One square piece the same size as short edge of the rectangles, and two skinny strips. That is all the pieces you need...

The easiest felt project you will ever make...Sew the 4 rectangles together along the longer edges. Take pinking shears, and trim along one edge.
See, now you have a little tower...I used my machine and did a simple zig zag stitch to sew it all together.
Then I sewed the square onto the bottom (the edges you did NOT use the pinking shear on). Easy peasy...
See??
Now take the strips and sew them onto the top edge of 2 of the sides. Just like paper bag handles. :)
Now give it to your little ones and let them go play...
Did you go shopping, Lilly? Good job, baby!
This only took about 20 minutes from start to finish...go make one!

Melted Snowmen Cookies

Killer CUTE, right? These were so much fun to make! My friend Miranda and I got together and made some cookies/desserts the other night and these little guys were on the menu. :) They just make me smile, even though they were all eaten this weekend.

The next morning after making them, the girls were jumping up and down just to eat one. We waited until our friend Kiley could join us (oh, and we had eaten lunch too). Then I let them dig in.

I like the way Lilly just went for the cookie part...
Go Kiley!!

Fun stuff!
Gotta love those little messy cheeks!

The Super Hero Princesses!

Last week, we had joined our friends for a birthday party for Jesus. It was really cool! I had been wanting to do that this year and was excited to do it with Kiley and Eli too! Miranda read the story of the first Christmas and then after talking about why we give gifts at Christmas, Miranda and I handed the kids their gifts from us.

Miranda made the kids the COOLEST capes ever! They are reversible and have different designs on each side. I wanted to do something that would match, so I made the 3 girls little crowns with coordinating colors and fabrics. Then I made Eli a bat mask to go with his cape.
They were SO excited to open them.

Batman and Spiderman in one...now that is the best kind of super hero!!
Crowns on, capes on...super hero princess Lilly away!!
Pose...
Alexis was off to save baby dolls everywhere...
These capes and crowns even work with pajama attire. Daddy was impressed!
Another pose...
Fly away...
Go Lexi...
