Breastfeeding

Hey all! I wanted to talk again about nursing!! I am currently weaning the girls and it is going quite well. I think they are more willing than I was...and you'd think whole milk was chocolate! They love it!!

I am officially sleeping through the night again, for the first time since the girls were born, and I am soooooooooooooooooo excited about it!! This just means that I am not pumping anymore...so no more milk to donate to the Mother's Milk Bank at Austin (MMBA). This is the reason I am writing this particular post.

If you are a nursing mother and/or know a nursing mother, or just feel like spreading the word to anyone, please consider telling them about donating milk. I called the MMBA this week to let them know I was done with my donations, and it was kind of sad. I wish I could help this great organization more. I asked if there was anything else they needed me to do, and I was told that getting the word out was the best thing I could do.

I didn't know that you could donate milk for sick and premature infants before having my own and needing to pump in the beginning. How cool is that...that an organization exists just to help little babies get the perfect and best nutrition possible. So, I don't know who all reads my little blog, but if you know people, let them know about this awesome group. Here is their website http://www.mmbaustin.org/scripts/

Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

Today was our fun-filled trip to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco...well, HOT and fun. We went with our good friends, The Sackreiters. We got there at 9 am right when they opened, hoping to beat the worst heat of the day. It was already blazing hot at 9, plus don't forget the lovely humidity.

It was still great to get together with friends though. Sweet, little Annalise is such a good friend to the twins, and they LOVE her!! Here are the 3 cuties all ready to check out the critters! Those hats didn't stay on too long with the heat. (Lilly is in the green sleeves and Lexi is in the pink.)

Look who was sitting right by the glass showing off for 3 excited little girls!!

The reaction to the little monkey...if you can't tell, those are happy, scrunched up faces!

Lilly bug posing as a butterfly...
Annalise is helping her Mommy pull the wagon...such a good helper!

Yep, we were officially melting by this point...no worries, we had the girls well-coated in sunscreen and kept them hydrated! Those little red faces with sweaty hair was still adorable!!

The alligator was resting with his chin up against the glass and all the kiddos loved it! Here is a group of incredibly curious boys checking him out!!
His close-up and a cool pelican drinking some water!
It was time for the babies water break too....Lilly was gulping it!
Next the waterfall...
Jessica and I roomed together for 3 years at UMHB! Here we are now, 8 years later, as wives and mothers!!
Then it was break time! Jessica getting Lexi some water...look at that hot little face.
Daddy and Lilly trying to cool down...
I gotta say, the next picture is my favorite! Annalise was giving Lilly goldfish crackers and cheerios. Eric captured this sweet moment as Lilly anxiously awaited her next snack.
Jessica and her girl!!

And while it was fun...thank goodness, we were done!! It was 100 degrees when we left a mere 3 hours later. We drove home, had some lunch, got baths and showers, and took a LONG nap!! It was a great day! The girls happily went to bed 2.5 hours after waking up from their nap too. Thank goodness for good sleepers! We are so blessed...to have great friends and great kids!!

And Then There Were Teeth...

My baby girl is feeling much better today!! Lexi has spent the past two days in screaming pain as 3 teeth were starting to come in at the same time. By this morning, 2 of them were all the way through so she felt much better. She now officially has 5 teeth!! After naptime, I took pictures of them being all sweet and giggly...I was trying to get pictures of the teeth too. :)

Lilly covering her eyes up to avoid the flash...such a cute smile!

Now, she is hamming it up, no matter the flash! Look at that smile!!

Like I said...Lexi loves her Daddy's hats!
And playing "peekaboo"... They do not laugh or care if we say "Peekaboo!", but if we say "Boo!!", it is hilarious.
And I couldn't resist adding this one in...Miss Lexi asleep the other morning!

Happy Birthday, America!!

We hope you all had a great 4th of July! Last year the girls were only 3 weeks old, so we just went for a walk around the block. The girls slept the whole time. So this year we hoped to start some new family traditions.

When I went to UMHB, I LOVED the Belton 4th of July Parade and am so glad to be back here again! It was also so much fun to not only take my husband and daughters, but to go with the girl I roomed with for 3 years and her family!! I am so glad we got to go with Scott, Jessica, and adorable little Annalise! All 3 little girls did so great. The loud bangs and noises scared them here and there and the heat finally got to all of us, but we had a blast. The girls loved the horses, oh so very much!! I may have animal lovers on my hands...YEA!!! I even heard Lexi making her horse noises a couple times as she saw the horses coming our way.

We may try the fireworks next year, but it was just too late at night for these 2 girls. So after the parade and a quick trip to McDonald's for lunch (that's just as American as BBQ, right? He he he), we went home to relax. We gave the girls a cool bath, fed them, and put them down for a nap. Later, we went outside to swing for a while and played some peekaboo on the couch...a fairly normal evening. I couldn't have asked for more and thank God every day for my awesome blessings...and for this amazing country that I live in!!

Happy Birthday, America!!

Lilly in Scott's hat...
Lexi chilling out waiting for the parade to start...
All of us except Jessica...but next year I will not forget my camera and will get one of ALL of us!! We will have to get some with all of us at the zoo this week...
Isn't Annalise's shirt super cute?
Miss Lilly wearing her Daddy's hat...

Back at home relaxing...
The girls now climb onto the couches ALL the time!!! It's a little scary and crazy, cause they are soooooo fast...up and down before we know it! Lexi climbed on the coffee table yesterday and when I made her get down, she got angry, yelled at the table, and then tried to bite it! It was hilarious!!
Lilly saying, "Peekaboo!!"
Out on the swing...Lilly-bug!

Lilly waving at me!Lexi being cute...

More of Miss Lexi...
