Fun Times

Today was the twins 9 month check-up!! As always I was looking forward to their weigh in and height check...and NO shots today! Here are the stats on my gorgeous little stinkers...

Lilly
Weight: 18 lbs, 6 ozs.
Height: 28 inches
Head size: 44.50 cm

Lexi
Weight: 18 lbs, 11 ozs.
Height: 27.50 inches
Head size: 44.20 cm

This puts both girls in the 50% percentile for all 3 categories!! Not bad considering that they were in the 7% and 10% percentiles of weight at 2 weeks old! Now that, is how you grow. :)

Dr. Riser said that everything looked great and she let me ask my crazy, first-time mommy questions. I had about a page of simple questions that I wanted to ask. I have lots of info on baby stuff, but always like to hear our pediatrician's opinion. She was there, after all, to see the girls born. I am glad that we have a great doctor who cares for our girls and knows their entire history. The girls really like her too...since they weren't getting shots today, they were a little bit more relaxed! :)
I took a picture of them before we left for the clinic, all bundled up and ready for the cold rain!! They really like these sweaters! I think they look like little snow bunnies! :)

It was apparently a good day...check out the girls at 7:00 pm tonight!!

Lexi passed out thinking deeply...

Lilly fell asleep in daddy's arms while waiting to nurse! They are such patient girls! :)

I figured we needed a picture of Eric and I...it's been a while! Here we are, just being us!

Just a Quick Note...

I can't help being proud of my girls...what parents aren't proud of their kids from time to time?! I am not going to write a lot tonight nor am I going to post any pictures (no crying, now! It will be okay!)

There are a couple of things I wanted to share with everyone. On Monday, we were sitting outside on our front bench enjoying the nice weather. Lexi was watching the tree overhead blow in the breeze. All of the sudden, she stuck her hand in the air and waved at the tree and said, "hi!" It was absolutely precious! This was the first time that she made an obvious waving motion and said hi specifically at something. Now, she has been saying a word that sounded like "hi" for a couple of months now, but we have never actually known if she knew what she was saying or meant to say that. It was a great moment!

Then today, I was playing with the girls in the living room. I was sitting on the ground trying to keep them from getting into any trouble. The dogs have not yet realized that they are really mobile now, so Sneezy was sitting there not moving as Lilly crept closer and closer. She got about 1 inch from his nose and then nose to nose, she looked directly at him and laughed loudly. He then quickly ran away. And while that was adorable, here is what this terrible mommy almost missed...

I had set her down right before the "nose to nose" incident. When I looked back at her after watching Sneezy run away, she was sitting up. I smiled at her and then suddenly had to think...Did I set her on her bottom or on her belly?

I had set her on her belly and she crawled to Sneezy! NOW, she was sitting up and I did not help her do that!! I was ecstatic! Lilly is just not in a hurry to do new things like Lexi is...she seems to be more laid back! Lexi started sitting up on her own the day after she first crawled! She does it like a pro all the time now. So this was the first time for my little Lilly bug!!

I always make such an effort to make a big deal over her new things too....you can't just get excited about the first one to do something. That would just be wrong and I am proud of BOTH my girls for every milestone! Lilly continued getting up and down for the rest of the day and I made sure she knew how proud I was of her!

This is the last thing, I promise...Lexi has been pulling herself up on the fireplace and a few other objects for a while now too, but today, she pulled herself up fairly quickly on the couch cushion. She stood up super straight and proud and her Daddy doted all over her! He took some pictures of her as she stood there and I will try to post those tomorrow.

I am sooooooo enjoying being a mother!! I always knew that God had created me to be a wife and a mother and that was my greatest desire! I am so thankful that my dreams have all come true!! I have Eric, my beautiful daughters, and two really cute little dogs that drive me crazy! What a great life! Thank you, God, for giving me sooooooo many blessings!

The Most Fun Ever....

Last night, the girls had the best time ever in the tub..which is saying something because they usually enjoy the bathtub. Lexi realized that she could pull herself up onto her knees and peer over the side of the tub. Then she kept trying to stand up and would do the splits every time! I kept telling her that it was probably too slippery for doing that just yet.

Lilly discovered her reflection in the silver hardware and it cracked her up. Then while Lexi was trying to get out of the tub, Lilly laid on her belly and chased her turtles and duckies around the tub. She realized that if she laid down in the tub, she could scoot back and forth more quickly and splash her face more...I think she would have stayed in there for hours if I let her.

This is Lilly talking to herself in the silver hardware....have no idea what you call that little piece! :)

Such a serious baby...I wish I knew what they were thinking!
"Hey, I can look over the edge!!"
Then, we have been sitting outside every evening for the last few nights while the weather was nice. It will be too hot after a while to do that, but it has been so cool lately. Here is Lilly and then Lexi looking around at everything!

Tutus and Sweetie Pies

Don't you just love these two pictures? They came out so good...of course, I have such precious subjects!

I started making birthday tutus last night and now have 2 of them almost finished. They are so cute, if I do say so myself. I didn't think they were easy to make until my friend, Jessica, told me how they make them. Then I found some instructional videos on YouTube...gotta love that website! :)

So for at least a third less than you can buy them online, I am making my own. Here are a couple of pictures of the girls trying them on...I am still getting in the groove and don't have the backs of these finished. I don't think the girls knew what to think. :)

These first pictures are Lilly...Lexi was more excited about the tutu when Lilly had it on than when she was wearing it. :)
Lexi trying her tutu on for the first time over her jammies this morning!
The plan is to put a white onesie underneath the tutus and add a little iron-on decal to the onesie...perhaps a number 1 for their first birthday! I am such a planner and it works better when you have 2 babies to plan a little bit ahead. Go figure! They also have little "Baby's First Birthday" crowns from their Nana Epps to wear...thus the reason for the colors in their tutus. They gotta match!! :)

Happy 9 Months, Girls!!

I cannot believe that my babies are 9 months old today! Time goes by soooooo fast!! We took these pictures this morning. The first one is my Baby A and the second one is Baby B!!

Here are what the girls are up to these days...I watch them every day in utter amazement!!

Lilly

- Sits up by herself

- Rolls over and over and over and over QUICKLY...before we know it, she is across the room getting into something :)

- Will walk if you hold her hands and guide her forward

- Her babbling has become more distinct. She is really trying to talk but mostly likes to say, "dadadadadada" and "mumumumu" and "bababababa"

- She likes to cluck her tongue to make cute noises.

-If I ask her to "give mommy a kiss", she will lean forward and give me a big sloppy kiss. She gave daddy one for the first time yesterday.

- She likes to laugh a lot and will just start giggling to herself and end up cracking up. She likes to get Lexi laughing....note the YouTube video.

- She loves to snuggle with her daddy.

- She pats everything!! She will pat the floor, the dogs, my shoulder, and her own chest. It's really cute when she pats herself, as if to say, "I am Lilly!"

- She can clap but doesn't quite get how to clap her own hands together so she claps her hands on ours.

- She loves to laugh at her sister if she wears a hat or has her hair put up in a clip.

- She is a much cleaner eater than Lexi. She likes to get the whole bite in her mouth and stay clean. Although she still likes to stick her hand in her mouth when it's full of food.

- She has started to pose when I try to take her picture.

- Lilly loves to jump in her jumperoo and play the piano on their activity center.

- She also loves to dance to the Wiggles and some of the other songs I have played for them a lot...The song, "Country Fried" by the Zac Brown Band is one of her favorites and always makes her smile and dance.

- She can pull herself up when she is in the mood. She mostly pulls herself up on us.

- She loves to bite Eric's nose.

- She sucks her thumb but only when she is about to fall asleep or is getting sleepy. As soon as she is asleep, it falls right out.

- She is now terrified of the vacuum and the food processor.

Lexi

- She can get from laying down to sitting straight up in no time flat. She will roll across the floor, squirm her whole body around, and then sit up..just like that! It's crazy!!

- She will also walk while holding your hands.

- She can pull herself up but doesn't try to very often. Although lately she loves to pull herself up on the fireplace.

- She likes to cuddle and sit in my lap. Sometimes she just wants to sit in my lap while she plays with her toys.

- Lexi loves to sing along with me when I am singing along to ITunes or the radio. She sings really loud with me and loves praise and worship songs. Her expression is priceless since she is trying really hard to sing along with me.

- She loves nothing more than to splash in the tub. Even when she splashes herself, she LOVES it. She pounds the water with both hands while smiling. She has figured out how to lift up the drain and let the water out.

- She is starting to try and say words more than Lilly. She says dada, and when she really wants me immediately, she will scream "MUM!!" She always says dada so sweetly and yells my name. The other day, she looked at Eric and said, "boo!" I thought Eric said it because it was so clear. She has a word for the dogs, although we are not quite sure what she is saying. It sounds like she is saying, "gigi" or "digi" or something like that. BUT she is definitely trying to say doggie.

- She can have a bit of a temper.

- She really likes to pull hair, and she pulls on Eric's hair and ears a lot.

- She likes to pull her legs up really high around your waist when you carry her so she has better balance.

- She is also terrified of the vacuum and the food processor.
