23 Months and Mother's Day!!

Oh my...23 months old AND Mother’s Day!!!!! Are they really going to be 2 in a month! That’s crazy! They look so grown up these days that it is sometimes hard to remember they are still pretty much babies when they do something rotten. They are definitely little toots, that’s for sure! And the best part, is that I wouldn’t change a thing about them.

I love watching them communicate. For a while now, they have gotten nervous with certain noises. We have some road construction going on close by and they always get a little jumpy when they hear big trucks or bulldozers moving around. They are also VERY aware of “modacycles” and “aiwr-planes”. Lexi started it, but now they both like to tell themselves, each other, and the dogs, “No be scared!” when they hear one of these noises. Lexi will run to Sneezy sometimes if she hears something and tell him, “No be scared, Sneezy! No be scaaaaaared, buddy!” She REALLY emphasizes her words too.

Lexi’s current favorite sayings...

“Hi, what you doing?”

“Come ear!” (come here)

“Hi, Buddy!”

“What happened??!!!!”

“No be scared!!”

“Oh, CUTE!”

“Lilly! Lilly!”

Lexi’s current obsessions are:

  • Forts
  • “Blanklets” (blankets)
  • Flip-flops
  • Purses
  • Summer hats
  • Calling the dogs by their nicknames (Sneezer-Weezer, Sneezy-Weezy, Tober-Wober, Toby-Woby, Sweetiepies, Gooberheads)
  • “Mommy, read it!”
  • Tearing things apart, especially paper
  • Sliding outside
  • Birds, Leaves, butterflies
  • Swimming and playing in the water hose

Lilly’s current favorite sayings...

“Daddy, Get Up!”

“Slide, Lexi!”

“Good Morning, Mommy!”

“Come Ear”

“Cover-E-Up” (Cover me up)

“Hi!”

“Come back here”

“See ya later”

“I cute!”

“Look at it?” She says this when I am cooking and she wants to look in the pan or the oven.

“Smell it!”

She calls Eric’s Diet Cokes, “Daddy’s cokes”

Lilly’s current obsessions are:

  • Bossing her sister around (she’s good at it too!)
  • Going outside to slide
  • Picking leaves off of the tree
  • Yelling, “Brown, Purple” when she wants to color with crayons
  • Snacktime
  • Asking to smell my morning coffee
  • Taking off her clothes and diaper when I am not looking and being SO proud of herself
  • Picking up roly-polys
  • Her dolls
  • Swimming and playing in the water hose

They are both obsessed with their play vacuum and mower. They want to be like their parents. :) They also love to push their dolls and toys in their doll strollers. They call everyone and everything, buddy.

I have never seen two little girls giggle more while playing together. I have hours of video footage of them hugging each other, tackling each other to the ground, or giving each other raspberries...but no matter what they are doing, they are laughing, laughing, and laughing some more! On the days when the 2 of them completely wear me out, I remind myself what a HUGE blessing it is that they have each other and have always had each other. There is such an amazing bond between them!

So girls, as you turn 2 next month, you never, ever forget how much your Mommy and Daddy love you!! No matter what you do or where you go, we will always be here for you! You make our lives full and wonderful! Thanks for another great Mother’s Day!!

Spring in Our Neighborhood

We loved spring this year, and since the 94℉ temps today tell me that it is now over, I thought I would take a look at the beautiful spring we had in our neighborhood. Eric and I tried to take a lot of nature pics...

Our neighborhood mockingbird....well, one of them. :)

Eric's favorite Texas native bird...the Scissortail Flycatcher.
The babies born in our front yard about 3 weeks ago...
Peekaboo!!
One afternoon I saw one of the babies up in the tree waiting while his daddy brought him food....this was his first afternoon out of the nest!
I love how fluffy juvenile birds are...so cute!
And last but not least, our neighbors gorgeous rose bush! If the girls didn't grab at the thorns so much, I might be tempted to plant one at our house. Maybe in a couple of years. :)

Tree Babies

What gorgeous weather! Tomorrow starts getting hot and we are going to try and enjoy it, even though I will miss the 70's. Eric LOVED these pictures, so I wanted to make sure I put them up.

Look at the crazy, screaming expressions these two had at the same time...apparently they like sliding!

Lilly and Mommy...
Lexi Bear...

They don't get to stay in the tree by themselves yet, since they think everything is a slide and they throw themselves out of the tree. So I set them on the branch, hold on, and then set them safely back on the ground. :)

The Best Homemade Garlic Bread!

I used to buy the expensive "Texas Toast" from the grocery store...well not anymore! Our friends Jessica and Scott made this garlic bread for us one time when they came over for dinner and it was SO GOOD!! And I bet you already have all the ingredients needed.

Your Favorite Bread
Butter
Garlic Salt
Parmesan Cheese (or even mozzarella)

Butter your bread, lightly sprinkle on some garlic salt, cover in a thin layer of cheese...
I couldn't remember what Jessica and Scott did, so I just set the oven to 400℉ and baked the bread for about 5-7 minutes. I let the cheese brown, the butter melt, and the edges of the bread get a little crispy.
There you have it...pure deliciousness! Just watch my children as they close their eyes and say, "MMMMMmmmmm, yummy!!!!"

We, of course, paired it with alphabet pasta and meatballs. The girls LOVED seeing all the letters in each bite.
