Our Week

We had a great week! Eric has been loaded with school work but has been working diligently. He had a huge English paper due on Monday and got it all done by Wednesday. He also studied for and completed an online test that was due by Monday. Now if he can get that pesky math homework done, he is good to go! I am so proud of his work ethic, because I could not do it! I would only want to play with the girls! :)

The best moment was Lexi's first crawl but there were lots of great moments. All the little sweet looks and smiles you get from your children make every day special! This is Lilly rolling around on the floor with her teddy bear. They are still in the "eat, lick, and chew on everything" phase. Lilly constantly looks like she wants to crawl but she is just soooooo fast at rolling over and over to get where she wants, that I don't think she sees the point of crawling yet!

The newest thing to explore is the back curtains. I had to wash these once and I washed them according to the wash instructions on the tag...unfortunately they shrunk 4 inches anyway! But the girls like to roll up in them and then pat the sliding glass door. I guess its a good thing that the curtains are shorter. Here is Lexi the same morning that she crawled!
Peekaboo!
Great crawling position....
I can't take enough sleeping pictures of my girls! Lexi still loves to get in this position. Lilly was awake at this point.

I try and make them sleep on their backs at night, but my attempts are futile these days. I will roll Lexi to her back and she IMMEDIATELY rolls back into this position. Oh well!!

Playtime in their big girl shorts. These are 12 month shorts!! I am so excited that they fit though. The girls are tooooooo cute in their "big girl" clothes!
Lexi rolled all the way to the kitchen floor to watch her fish. They are fascinated with the fish in the fish tank. She stayed in that position for about 10 minutes.
One day we took a nice walk...the girls love being outside in the fresh air!
And last but not least, they got a package in the mail the other day from their Nana Epps. They were so excited when they saw the new books. The books had CDs in them with the songs that matched the books. We had so much fun singing the songs and reading the books. Once again....eating the books was cool too!!!
Gimme, Gimme!!!

Blue Eyes

I guess I always figured that any children of mine would have dark hair and eyes. These are dominant genes and all...well by now I hope you have all noticed that my girls did not get these traits! Instead they got their daddy's recessive traits. I am not sure when we started singing this little song, but every once in a while Lilly and Lexi will look at us with those big blue eyes and Eric and I will softly sing, "Blue eyes smiling at me. Nothing but blue eyes do I see!" Now I know those aren't the real words to the song, but who cares, right?!
Here are my gorgeous blue eyed girls!

First Crawl

Lexi crawled for the first time today!! Lilly almost did, but is probably only a day away now!! I was lucky enough to have the video camera right next to me and I only missed the first little scoot...Eric got it on YouTube already!!

Funny Faces

Some of these are older pics, must most are within the past month...here are some of my favorite funny faces or HUGE smile pictures!! First is Lilly and the first one is my favorite:

What smells weird?
The rest are of Lexi.
Ewww...mommy is kissing me!
Lexi's tongue is out a lot these days...

Happy Lexi
Lexi's maddest face to date...I now have to sing a song while I wipe her face, so she doesn't totally freak!

And last but not least, what would this post be without one of Eric...the biggest goof in the house! In his defense, the girls were really pulling on him when I took this one.

You Never Know...

Saturday I had some groceries I needed. I ran up to WalMart while the girls were napping. That is what I usually do...let Eric do homework while the babies sleep and I can shop without two little ones. That is quite the feat, let me tell you! If I have both babies, I am limited to just a few items...whatever I can fit in the bottom of the stroller. :)

So here I am in line with a basket full of groceries. I usually try to be friendly to the checkers and say hello and ask them how they are doing...my mother and grandmother always told us to do that. They said you never know how you might impact someone's day. I said hello to the young girl and asked her if she was having a good day. Now remember this is Valentines Day!

She was kind of soft-spoken and I had a hard time hearing her at first. But she said she guessed. Then she started talking...and I mean, talking. She told me how she wondered if her boyfriend really loved her and kept pushing him so she could find out, and how she knew that was risky, but she just had to do it. She told me how it is so hard because he is her first love. She then said that she wasn't sure if they had just broken up or not and that she might be pregnant and that she was just so tired of dating. She was talking a million miles a minute and just pouring her heart out to me! I really couldn't say much either. I just had to listen and nod.

She told me that she was 18 and her boyfriend was 21 and that she just couldn't date guys her own age, because they were even more stupid than the 21 year olds. :) At this point, I told her that boys did tend to mature a little slower. :) So she kept on talking...I didn't mind at all.

I knew more about this sweet girl at WalMart in 10 minutes than I knew about some of my friends after a couple of months. She was so precious and scared and confused about life. She told me that the possible pregnancy was scaring her and that she was starting to see herself become like each one of her parents, and trust her, that was not a good thing. She was tempted to not date anymore until she was old...like 30!! I of course, really had to work at not laughing at this statement!
All I was really able to tell her was that she needed to demand that a guy treat her well and she needed to wait for a prince. I told her that I waited 27 years for mine and he is worth every tear and lonely moment!! I also told her that if she was pregnant, it would be okay. I wanted to tell her that babies are wonderful and there were lots of people out there willing to help her, but I didn't get the chance.

I got in the car and sat there for a minute...God, did I say the right things? I could have said so much more, but she just kept talking...

Then I realized and truly feel like this is what happened....God had put me in that position JUST to listen to her. She needed to talk. She was upset and now having to work and she just wanted someone to tell her problems to. I am grateful that I was there and that she was willing to share those intimate details with me. Now I can pray for her and, who knows, maybe get in her line again. I was thankful for the experience!!

On a funnier note, Eric asked me if she was slow at bagging my groceries because she was talking so much. I told him that the faster she talked, the faster she scanned and bagged. She was pretty sweet!
