The Turtle

Lexi was really sick for around 11 days, ending last week, but she has actually been struggling with various issues since Easter. We were so ready for her to feel healthy again. One day when I thought I was going to lose my mind if she didn't break her 104 fever, she suddenly perked up. We went outside to get some fresh air and then I saw this little guy. Eric had just made it home and I think we REALLY needed a nice diversion. This little guy had somehow made it to our house. We checked him out carefully, and considered keeping him for a few minutes. I think if Lexi wasn't sick and I hadn't known that turtles can carry Salmonella, we might have kept him.

Eric picked him up and we were pretty sure it was a Red Eared Slider, but we couldn't get him to poke his head out for us to be sure. We ran by our vet to ask if they thought we could take him out to the lake. They said that they had seen tons of them at the lake. So we ran him down to Dana Peak Park. The girls were excited and all giggly.

He was so cute and shy...
Eric set him on a rock in the water and you could just see the joy in his body as he swam around.
Not a bad place to live, huh?
We were very thankful to God for such a beautiful and fun little diversion that brightened up our whole day. :)

A New Game

On Saturday, I taught the girls how to play Hide and Go Seek. The only real game they have is Elefun and I needed a break from the floating butterflies. I told them how it's played and they were super excited to give it a try.

So I closed my eyes and counted to ten. I heard them run off hand in hand, screaming. They ran into the bathroom giggling. When I got to ten, I yelled, "Here I come!"

I had barely gotten off the couch and they came tearing out of the bathroom, screaming again. They tackled me with a big hug.

And that, folks, is how you play Hide and Go Seek, Lilly/Lexi Style.
