Peas, Plus A Cough Update...

Lilly didn't cough at all during the night, but started again as soon as she woke up. I got her into the doctor's at 9:40 am today. Her regular pediatrician was out, but we saw one of her associates and she was nice. She said that Lilly's lungs and heart sounded good and nothing looked bad. She doesn't have RSV and it most likely an upper respiratory, virus thing. :(

She told us what to look for in case it turns into something more or she does get RSV. Of course, while we were at the doctor Lexi started coughing too. So we are home and the girls are still happy and acting fine. They do not act sick at all, which is good.

We will be watching for signs of something worse and just keep the girls in, and see if we can get through this...keep praying for them. I hate that little raspy cough...sounds so sad.

On a better note, we came home from the doctor and the girls started playing together and laughing up a storm just from looking at each other...here they are...and yes, Lexi's new thing is to stick her tongue out when she gets excited.

Then for lunch the girls got their first taste of peas...mommy's least favorite vegetable, YUCK!!! The girls really liked peas. They opened up wide for every bite after that first one. We are doing vegetables first and then moving into fruits when their little bellies are used to vegetables. So we ate 4 days of squash and now the peas. We have green beans and carrots next and then onto some fruits. This has been so much fun seeing how they react and I hope they learn to love their veggies and grow big and strong!!

Here are some "pea" eating pictures...The first two are Lilly. This first picture reminded us of Popeye. I told her to smile really big and she got so excited.
Gotta love those little grins...

Lexi liked hers too, but she kept trying to blow bubbles and spitting them onto her daddy, thus the messier bib and face!

January 1!!!

Today was a day of reflection for me...in those very few quiet seconds that I had. I can't believe that my little girls are almost 7 months old now (next week!) It has definitely been the best year ever for me!! I got to be married to the love of my life and we welcomed into the world, not only 1, but 2 beautiful children!!

I am so blessed and so in love with my little family! Thank you Lord for my family! I could not imagine a better year.

On a more serious note, we are going to the doctor tomorrow morning for Lilly!! Tonight we were getting the girls ready for a bath and she started to cough. Now they both cough here and there, but it is always the normal little coughs. Tonight it was a deeper cough, so I freaked out and called the after-hours triage nurse. She called us back after the babies were asleep and we told her what was happening. She said to let her sleep if she is not gasping for breath and take her in to the doctor first thing tomorrow. So, I will be calling for an emergency appointment tomorrow morning. Just pray that all is well. She has been asleep for 2 hours now and has not coughed since falling asleep.

Here is Eric and Lilly cuddling today!

Miss Lexi playing in her bouncer this afternoon...

I know that looking at this picture, you all may not see anything cool, but my dad might...this was my outfit in 1980! She looks so cute in yellow!

New Year's Eve!!

Ahhh, New Year's Eve...a night to stay in and relax! Well at least this year. This is only the second New Year's that I have known Eric (ha ha ha!!) and twin 6 month olds make us a little too tired to go out and do anything. Last year I was about 12 weeks pregnant and quite sick. Boy, do I remember that...yuck!

The girls went down tonight about 8 pm. We are having issues with poor, sweet, little Lexi. She seems to struggle a little more every night with sleeping in her own crib. She is just such a snuggle bunny and usually rolls over in the night to cuddle up close to Lilly. Lilly sleeps well since all she needs is to suck her thumb and she is out!

When Lexi stirs in the night, instead of having a sister to snuggle up with, she rolls into the side of her crib, wakes up, and starts crying this sad little cry. Last night was kind of rough. She woke up twice. All I had to do was pick her up and hold her. She grabbed me tight and fell right to sleep, but I can't do that every night. I just hate that sad little cry....it's pretty pathetic.

We will have to see how she does tonight...hopefully she will be okay. She has also started to stick that bottom lip out really far when she is sad. I think it is the cutest thing on the planet, but it breaks my heart to see! Funny how that happens...

So here is a picture of me with my darling love taken about 45 minutes ago, while we were being silly...Happy New Year's!!!

Squash

The girls have been doing so well with their new foods. We started off slow with the rice cereal once a day and moved up to oatmeal cereal. When their tummies were used to that, we introduced vegetables....that was today, my friends! Today at lunch, we got out the squash...and it wasn't all that bad. They did make some funny faces, but the mouths still came open for the second and third spoonfuls and so on. We were impressed. They ate a decent amount and we kept encouraging them by saying, "Yummmmm!! Squash and vegetables are yummy!" That got a few smiles!

Here is Lilly flirting with a messy face...

Now for Lexi's little adventure...

New Photos We Love...

I just had a handful of photos to share from the past couple of days that Eric and I really liked. The girls love their new toys...even the top of their shape sorter amazes them. They were both trying to put it in their mouths in this picture.

Daddy always makes his Lilly bug laugh!! He was making noises for her in this one, so she would smile for the camera. I love the little droplet of drool on her chin! :)

I was trying to capture Lilly's eyes through some of the toys on her jumperoo and just happened to get this shot...I love it!!

Here we have the first pictures of Lexi sitting up without support. She can do it for about 3-15 seconds, depending on her mood, but she gets better at it every single day.

Lilly and her favorite appendage...she only sucks this thumb and can't go to sleep without it!

Lexi smiling from the new pony! I told her that many kids ask for a pony for Christmas and she should be super excited that she got one for her first!!

We were trying to smooch but it is the silliest picture of us in a while...I just had to share! Now if you ask the girls to give you a kiss and give them your cheek, they will try to nurse it! We like to think they are really trying to kiss mommy and daddy!
Miss Lexi hanging out the other evening. I had a bowl of soup for dinner and the second she saw the spoon, she lunged for it, almost falling out of her bouncer!!
The girls were given the most adorable hooded towels when they were born and were completely swallowed by them until lately. Debbie's friend made them and they are super precious and cute!! There is a pink one and a green one...here is Lexi modeling the green one! I think they like the bows on top.
