Eric's Birthday Fun

Eric had his birthday on the 10th and we did our best to make it super special for him. We are now a couple in our thirties. :)

We hung out that morning around the house and made a simple breakfast.

Lexi wanted to look for birds with Mommy out the kitchen window.
I made some cupcakes for both mine and Eric's birthday, plus Valentines day. They were the cutest little things with these vintage picks in them. I think Eric enjoyed eating them. :)
While waiting for Daddy to come home from work, I gave the girls 3 rolls of streamers and let them loose in the living room. I told them to decorate the whole house for Daddy's birthday and this is what they did...yep, looks about right.
Originally the streamers were all over the couches, but they had fun throwing them at each other while waiting for Eric to come home.
I decorated Eric's chair and the girls each requested a balloon on their chair too...
When he came home, we met him at the door blowing noise makers and singing "Happy Birthday!" I think he was excited. Of course, the chicken I was cooking was slightly more frozen than I had originally thought, so my sweetheart cheerfully ran to Subway for us and got some yummy sandwiches.

Here are a few pictures of the adorable vintage cupcake picks that I found at Hobby Lobby. I found these right after Christmas and KNEW that I had to make cupcakes with them.

Turning 31!

Today was a super fabulous day. I turned 31 years old! It seems weird to say that, but it's true and I am okay with it. :) We had a nice breakfast and snuggly morning after learning that school was closed due to the weather and Eric got to be home with us all day.

Then after learning that the roads were okay for traveling, we met my friend Miranda and her kiddos at Cracker Barrel for lunch.

The last two years, Eric and I have had dinner at the Cracker Barrel for our joint-birthday celebration. We go out on my birthday, so I don't have to cook. We started the tradition of taking pictures of me with my girls. I LOVE seeing the pictures together and seeing how much they have changed and grown. This year, I let Eric pick a different restaurant, but still wanted to take the same picture. Since I was there with Miranda for lunch, I got my wish. :) Thanks, Miranda for taking the pictures.

This year on my birthday...

And boy was it cold this year!!

Then we went out for dinner as a family and had a nice time hanging out. Lexi had a blast crushing crackers on the table and Lilly had a blast standing up in the booth dancing. I am sure we were great entertainment.

Time with friends and family...now that is a what I call a nice and perfect birthday. Tomorrow is Eric's birthday and we made cupcakes tonight that are too cute! I'll post some pictures of those tomorrow.

Snow Day, 2-4-11

I am thankful we got some snow for a day or two. That's about all this Texas girl really needs each year. Here are some fun pictures of our excursion out into the cold stuff...

Lilly and Mommy
Lexi
They had fun dusting the snow off of everything.
Lexi's snow angel was pretty good...
Lilly's was too...
Lexi...

You better not, honey!

Still dusting things off...
We weren't outside too long, since we don't have "snow" clothes. We made them go back inside as soon as their clothes started to get really wet. :) Although, I don't think they minded peeling off all the layers and thawing out with hot chocolate by a warm fire.

Chrysalis & Metamorphosis

Maybe it's the biologist in me, but when I looked down in the dirt below our tree last weekend and saw this...

I got a little excited!! The girls have learned about metamorphosis and saw tons of chrysalis' this summer when we visited a butterfly garden and watched some of them breaking open. It was extra cool to see one in your front yard and be able to tell the girls all about it, up close and personal.
Cool looking, huh? :)
So I took lots of pictures and Eric and I are still trying to identify it. We do know it is probably a moth and not a butterfly. We carefully tucked it into a crevice in the tree where we thought it would be safe until it could finish the process. However, I think the fact that it was covered in 3 inches of snow on the tree limb, may mean it is a goner. I checked it today and it was pretty weird looking.

I am just glad the girls got to get a good look at it and explore God's amazing creation a little more.
