Maybe it's the biologist in me, but when I looked down in the dirt below our tree last weekend and saw this...
I got a little excited!! The girls have learned about metamorphosis and saw tons of chrysalis' this summer when we visited a butterfly garden and watched some of them breaking open. It was extra cool to see one in your front yard and be able to tell the girls all about it, up close and personal.

So I took lots of pictures and Eric and I are still trying to identify it. We do know it is probably a moth and not a butterfly. We carefully tucked it into a crevice in the tree where we thought it would be safe until it could finish the process. However, I think the fact that it was covered in 3 inches of snow on the tree limb, may mean it is a goner. I checked it today and it was pretty weird looking. I am just glad the girls got to get a good look at it and explore God's amazing creation a little more.
