Friday was such a beautiful day! We decided earlier in the week that since it was going to be 75 degrees that we would go to Waco for a few hours and go to Cameron Park Zoo. Now I LOVE this zoo!! Being a biologist, zoos and aquariums are some of my favorite places in the world, and while the zoo in Waco may be smaller than some, it is still fantastic!! It is nice and big enough to make it well worth it. It is also small enough to not be overwhelming for little ones. We took our time and were there maybe an hour and half.
For the girls reaction...I think they loved it! They did not really notice all the animals, but they saw the ones that were making noise or moving around a lot. The girls carefully watched the large Galapagos tortoise, the fish in the aquarium, the river otters, the bats, the giraffes, the meerkats, and lions.
Lexi was mesmerized by the huge fish and the otter. Lilly couldn't take her eyes off of the lions laying right up against the glass. We took as many pictures as we could, but it was hard since the girls couldn't see as much as from the double stroller. So Eric and I took most of the pictures while holding a baby! It was definitely an adventure!
Here we are at the first exhibit...the girls posed for Daddy but paid no attention to the monkeys grooming each other in the sunshine! First is Lexi and then Lilly! I had their little sunhats on them at first because I was paranoid that they would sunburn. It was the first time they wore sunscreen and they didn't burn at all. YEA!
Daddy and his girls at the River Otters...
My triplets again...
Eric and Lexi in front of some birds and a waterfall. The girls liked the waterfall more than the parrots and vultures. The next one is me and Lilly!
Miss Lexi and the meerkat had been having a stare-down, but Daddy finally got her attention for a cute picture!
I was watching the rhinos and Eric snuck one...stinker!
Here we are at the lion exhibit...there were 3 lions right by the glass and Lilly saw the one directly below her. At one point, it sat up and looked right at her...I had to let that lion know how I felt about her looking at my child that way! Lilly is not food. :)
Lilly and Daddy...
Mommy and Lexi...
Lexi and the large fish in the aquarium...
At the end...the girls were tired and ready to go take a nap! Then Eric and I just had to pose with just us! We went to the gift shop but decided to wait until the girls were older and let them pick out their own little shirts!
Gotta love a good zoo!!
