The kids are cracking me up this morning. And it's such a blessed change from the grumpies that have been here all week.
I am sitting here watching the girls dance and they are sooooo different. Identical twins? Not in personality, for sure. The girls turned 4 in June. Here are some fun Lilly and Lexi facts:
They want to wear dresses EVERY DAY, no matter what we are doing. And the more the dresses twirl, the better.
They tell Noah on a daily basis that he's "so cute they can't stand it". Then they fight over who gets to sit closer to him.
Speaking of fighting, they are crazy competitive about everything. They get it from Eric. :) We now have rules about who gets to sit in which dining room chair at each meal, who gets the the left car seat certain days of the week, who gets to stand on the taller step stool to brush their teeth, etc...
Their favorite pair of shoes are silver dress shoes.
They LOVE, LOVE headbands, tiaras, purses, and bows.
They wish they could be Fancy Nancy and use fancy words a LOT. The other day, Lexi thanked me for making her hair look exquisite.
Their favorite food in the whole world is mac-n-cheese, pb&j's and grilled cheese. What four year olds isn't? :)
Lilly adores french fries. Lexi does not. She'll eat a few with enough ketchup on them though.
Lexi likes Mexican food though and Lilly does not. They both have decided that pizza is gross with sauce on it. Little weirdos. We order cheese pizza without sauce.
Their favorite dancing song is Dynamite by Tao Cruz. Their favorite praise and worship song is 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman.
Lexi still likes pink and Lilly loves purple.
Lexi wants to be an astronaut when she grows up and Lilly wants to be Spidergirl. :P
Eric gives them hugs and kisses every morning before leaving for work and then for the next hour I try to convince them that 1) yes he did say goodbye and 2) you said bye back. Short term memory or just mad he left? Who knows.
They love Backyardigans, The Wonder Pets, and anything on PBS kids. I really have to limit their tv cause they like it a lot.
They love it when we read books to them. If we could pick one activity to do every day, it would be to read books. We read for hours each day.
Lilly calls Lexi "sist" which is short for sister. Lexi still calls Lilly pet names when she is angry. There is nothing funnier than a mad Lexi yelling "Lilly bugga bugga!!"
Some of their favorite books are Leapfrog Tag books, Fancy Nancy books, Skippyjohn Jones, Horton Hears a Who, Giraffe and a Half, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and anything to do with princesses.
Lexi is more of our serious thinker, usually. I have to put usually, because it seems they switch every few months. She is a nurturer and just precious and caring with everyone she meets. She has always been more willing to make friends first, but that is starting to change. Right now, she is getting scared of all sorts of things...spiders, monsters, the dark. She loves to dance and twirl and will wear skirts a lot more than her sister.
Lilly is still our sensitive, snuggle-bunny. She loves to sit beside you and hold you while sucking her thumb. She is trying to quit that habit but still does it often. She is super sweet and gentle. Some days she is content to lay on the couch and watch all the action and other days, she is loud and giggly and dancing all over the place. I think she is a little more self-conscious than Lexi.
They just started full-time preschool and are in different classes. It has already been interesting and fun to see how they are changing and blossoming just by being apart for 7 hours a day.
In any case, good or bad, we love our girls and can't imagine life without them. Thank you, God, for choosing us to raise and love these precious little girls! They are amazing and I just can't say that enough. :)
Happy birthday to my gorgeous 4 year olds! We love you!
Weight: Both are between 41-42 lbs
Height: Lexi is 44"tall and Lilly is 44 1/4" tall

Past Happenings
The past couple of months have been super busy. In May, the girls prepared for their ballet recital and we had all sorts of fun playing with makeup. I wanted to practice putting stage makeup on them so that when it was time for the recital, they wouldn't look trashy or like clowns. They gladly let me practice.
May was also spent preparing for all the big birthday celebrations we had coming up. I still can't believe my girls are four years old!! They wanted a butterfly party this year and wanted me to make their invitations. I drew a butterfly on the front and let them color them. We had a good time with that. They also helped me pick out all of the decorations, down to the paper cups and confetti.
The recital was on the last weekend of May and, thankfully, Eric's mom was able to come visit too! The next weekend was the birthday party and the weekend after that was their actual birthday.

Silly Boy
So Noah definitely struggles with napping. His sisters didn't have such a hard time but hopefully with school starting, a quieter house will help him get some rest. I put the iBaby monitor on the wall last week to get some different views of the crib. Boy, are those some entertaining views.
I laid a sleepy little boy down the other day and this is the progression I watched on the monitor....
"Hey, is that the baby monitor? I bet Mommy is watching me."
"Let's take a closer look!"

7 Months Old
Wow, 7 months old already! I am kind of sad that my last baby is becoming less and less of a baby every day. But he's so fun and precious that it makes it ok. :)
Here's what Mr. Noah Matthew is up to at 7 months:
Pulling up on my leg, the couch, his bedroom chair, and his jumperoo.
Crawling backwards and in circles but not forwards yet. (Update: He crawled about 3 hours after I typed this!) :)
Says "bababababa" all the time. He loves to blow raspberries and stick his tongue out and blow.
He weighs 19 lbs and wears anywhere from a 9 month to a 12 month size. He's slowed down growing so fast cause he's been wearing this size since he was 4 months old. He was a giant for a while but looks normal now, at least to me. He also wears a size 3 diaper.
The brown hair has almost all fallen out and the hair seems to grow in lighter and lighter all the time. He is definitely blonde. His eyes are not turning brown but are almost as dark blue as they were at birth.
He loves to play peekaboo, tickle, and chew on his toys. His favorite toys right now are stacking cups, shapes and the shape sorter box lid, and anything that makes noise.
He still loves touching different textures and loves to scratch the walls and listen to his fingers rub fabric.
He has such an amazing smile. He reserves a special smile for his sisters and Eric and I. He cries sometimes when Lilly and Lexi play with other kids cause he craves their attention.
He's still nursing every 3 hours and sleeps from around 8 pm until 6-6:30 am. He started eating solids about 1.5 weeks before 6 months. He tends to have a few more tummy issues than his sisters did, but is doing just fine.
So far we have had peas, butternut squash, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, avocado, bananas, and pears. Yummy! We try peaches soon.
It's fun to see how different he is from his sisters. Of course, his sisters were born early, so I'm sure that's some of it. He grunts and growls when he is being silly. He grabs toys and stares hard at them trying to figure them out.
He started sitting up at 4.5 months and trying to pull up around 5.5 months. This is way earlier than Lilly and Lexi.
He did actually say "Mama" at 5 months. But he only says it when he is really angry and wants me to hold him or come get him. :)
He can copy the girls' fake laugh and it gets a lot of laughs from us. That of course makes him do it more.
He is a terrible napper, but if that is the worst thing we ever have to deal with, I can handle it. At least he sleeps so good at night.
He appears to be slowly getting his first tooth, but who knows...
Overall, he is a true joy and delight! I couldn't be happier that God gave us such a darling little boy!!

Stuck
This little guy turned 7 months old and today I came around the corner to find him stuck in this position. He finally put his head down and rolled over, but he was pretty angry that he was stuck.
I tried bending his knees into a crawling position but he wouldn't let me bend them. I wonder if he was trying to stand or something. Anyways, even though I took quite a few pictures, I was trying to help him too. :) He's such a silly boy!

Goodbye Trileptal!!
Lexi had an EEG on July 25th and her doctor called me last night to tell me that it was perfect. Lexi did everything the doctors wanted her to do...fell asleep, woke up, etc.
She shouldn't have any more seizure issues. If you've forgotten, a febrile seizure after she turned 2 caused more seizures. That can happen when a child is that young and most of the time, a minor amount of medicine for two years will give the brain enough time to finish building certain pathways. So by the age of 4 her brain is developed enough and she shouldn't have any more seizures.
We dropped her morning dose about a month ago, and last night, she got to toss the bottle in the trash! It was a great moment!!! Praise God!
She has one more check-up in September and is she looks good at that time, she will be dismissed as a pediatric neurology patient altogether! Woohoo!
