The Sanfords Lately

I am SOOOOOO glad this last week is over! As I said before, last Saturday Lexi got sick but she is just now feeling herself again. We ended up making an ER run on Monday night because she suddenly spiked a 104.5 ℉ temperature and had a minor seizure. When it comes to illnesses and symptoms, to Eric and I, a seizure means an ER trip...every time with no exceptions. We had this discussion later that night at 2 am. :)

I was told by a neighbor that the hospital close to us (across the street) was super fast and nice. So we went there and 7 hours later, came home extremely disappointed and pretty irritated. However, we finally got Lexi's temp to break. She was given more Motrin at the hospital and was being crazy with her sister again just a few hours later. They also gave Lexi a breathing treatment to break up the little bit of rattling they heard in her chest.

Being stuck in a small exam room for 6 hours with 2 cranky, tired toddlers was enough to put me in an insane asylum. They wanted to touch the biohazard containers and lay down and snuggle with the floor...in an emergency room!!!! Can I admit how awful it was to try and keep 2 toddlers from licking the wheels on the hospital bed? I mean, seriously! Gross! When we left to go home, both girls kept saying everything was gross and disgusting...they obviously heard what I was saying, even if they refused to listen. At least we got to watch some Cake Boss and Lilly now tells me that she wants to make a motorcycle cake.

The next day I ran into my neighbor's mother and she informed me how that was the worst and slowest emergency room around. I didn't have the heart to tell her that her son was the one who sent us there. :)

Anyways, I kept in touch with our pediatrician back home and she was pretty sure that Lexi just had a bad virus. I trust her so much, but when Lexi broke out in a bad rash on Wednesday afternoon, after the high fever, sunken-in eyes, pale skin, and body wrenching fits every hour, I had had enough. I was just scared that it could be more than a virus..Yep, I was a paranoid mommy! So I went ahead and made her an appointment with a local pediatrician just to ease my fears. I know Dr. Riser knows what she's talking about. I just liked it when a doctor here looked at her eyes, temp, and rash in person. Does that make sense? He sent us to another hospital for some blood work. He wanted to take a look at her platelet level. Everything came back showing a nasty, solid virus. Praise God!! And by Friday night, she had the shine back in her eyes and was throwing less fits. I guess that means we will be getting bills in the mail from 3 different hospitals...yuck! Now if we can keep Lilly from getting it. She, of course, just finished some medicine for the same cough I had a few weeks back.

That pretty much sums up my entire week...I held my baby while she screamed in pain (we assume from body and head aches), tried to get them to play a little bit, stayed in our pajamas until bath time when we got on clean pajamas, and made them drink fluids like no ones business. I was usually in tears by the time Eric got home from work. It is so emotionally exhausting to worry about your sweet babies!

We get to go back home next Monday and I am soooo excited! I miss my wonderful little house! I have already packed up the excess clothes that we won't need this week, and we have a menu plan for the week that should empty out the fridge and freezer. Plus we have a few restaurants that we are going to miss, so Eric planned 3 nights to eat out, later in the week.

I have several really cool posts planned for this week, but until then, have a great Sunday! Oh, and hey Lexi...if you feel better, make a funny face!
