I still take lots of pictures! Enjoy!

The girls love to lay on Eric's chest to take naps. There is something nice about daddy!

Here they are hanging out with mommy during the day! We wake up in the mornings and play for about an hour and a half and then usually crash in their bouncers for a short nap!

Lilly liked her bath and the hooded towel may actually fit in the next couple months! :)

Lilly was exhausted after being fussy for about an hour and crashed next to her daddy on the bed!

Hey Nana Betty, look what Lexi likes to snuggle with! She is starting to want to hold onto blankets and toys now.

Lexi wasn't sure what to think of her pink bunny slippers, so she just started to fall asleep!

In Memory of Grandpa

My grandfather passed away last night. Thank you for praying for him and us. I am glad that he is not suffering anymore. Now he is with this daughters and wife, all of whom I know he missed dearly! He was such a gentleman, and a smart, honorable, wonderful man. I could think of thousands of favorable adjectives to use to describe him.

Okay, well I gotta get back to my fussy little ones! Looks like its naptime. :)

Grandpa Update

Well whatever made my grandfather pass out in the first place and caused him to fall is what is messing with his body now...I got a call after the past posts were published and it wasn't looking good. I talked to my cousin Tyffany yesterday morning and he was going from un-responsive to doing okay to not knowing where he was. Then his vitals were going nuts. His blood pressure is all over the place, his extremities are swollen, and his kidneys are functioning at 20%. The doctors aren't sure what is wrong.

Eric and I packed up the babies again yesterday and drove down. We left the hospital about 8 pm and not much had changed. We all drove down just in case it was our last chance to say goodbye. Dad and Nathan were both able to make it and I think my Aunt Cindy and her kids were able to get there late last night. I feel better about the fact that Eric and I got to see him again and love on him a little bit. If, God forbid, he leaves us soon, at least we got to say goodbye and let him know how much we love him!

It was kind of funny though, Grandpa said it was the tap water that did it! Poor guy!

Well keep praying for all of us. This is even more difficult on my 4 cousins who live in Austin, because they are his medical power of attorney and they are taking turns sleeping at the hospital with him. So they really need prayer for strength and wisdom! They take such good care of him.

Anyways, thanks for all the prayer so far! Love you all!

The girls are feeling better today. They were fussy and sore yesterday. I also forgot to mention the fun fact that they came home with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck band-aids over their shots! I thought that was kind of cute.

Now, I want to mention that I am in complete awe of my babies smiles! They recently discovered their crib mobile. I tried for a long time to get them both smiling at the same time, but they wanted to take turns. So, I put the video up of Lilly smiling. They are so sweet and they are even starting to smile at other people besides just Eric and I. They talk constantly and it is so much fun talking to them and seeing them try to respond. They will also lay side by side and talk to each other. I love it!

So, here is smily Lilly...enjoy!

Crazy Day

Yesterday was a big day for us...mostly for the girls! It was time for their 2 month check-up. I was really excited to see how much they had grown, but not excited about the shots. Of course we had issues with our insurance from the VA, so Eric had to go straighten some things out before they would check us in...this meant that we waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes or so. Then we got into the exam room, the babies woke up hungry and slightly grouchy.

Alexis weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21.5 inches!!! What a big girl! Lilly now weighs 8 pounds, 13 ounces, and is 22.45 inches in length! She is long and lean. I was so excited to see how good they are doing! I knew that they were growing but it is so much fun to measure them. They are now starting to fit into some of their 0-3 month clothes. I have actually had to pack up a few of their newborn outfits and all of their preemie stuff.

Dr. Riser (who is awesome, by the way!!) said that they are in the 7th and 10th percentile for their weights. I am not entirely sure what that means yet, but she was extremely pleased to see her little twins doing so well...she said that they are doing perfect!

Then came the shots...YUCK! Most of you know how squeemish I am around needles, and although I am much better now having had all the pregnancy and labor needle pricks (including the spinal), I was still worried that I would get faint watching someone put needles in my babies. When Lexi had to get the IV in the NICU, Eric had to hold her cause it upset me too much.

So Eric held the girls while they got 2 shots in one thigh and 1 in the other. I haven't heard them cry like that since the hospital and I felt so bad for them. They cried until we were walking out of the clinic and then they crashed! It was funny...like they were relieved to be leaving. Now we are dealing with the side effects...fussiness, tears, swollen thighs, and sleepiness. The sleepiness is okay! :) :) We have been giving them the infant tylenol and they LOVE the grape flavor.

I bet you all didn't realize this was such a long story...We get home and find more fire ants in the nursery. This time, they were in the bedding on the guest bed...all over too. It was so gross. Thankfully Eric had found them the day before under the bed and we had already placed out little traps. We got some that were safe around the babies and dogs, but it still makes me nervous. I just can't have fire ants in the house, and especially not in the girls' room. Do any of you know some safe remedies for getting rid of them? I want to put something outside the wall on the side of the house, but I have to think of the dogs. We have lots of open land behind the house with scrub and brush, so it makes it difficult. When we first moved in we had scorpions, snakes, and we still have tons of spiders here and there. I guess that's the joy of living close to the country.

So that was our crazy day! Woops, I hear a crying baby. I hope you all have a good day! Betty, I am trying my hand at making your BBQ brisket in the crock pot today. I will let you know how it turns out...probably not as good as yours! Love you all!

Baby Update

This morning my girls woke up hungry and happy! After eating heartily, we put on some adorable little dresses from Aunt Amy (which almost fit now!) and snuggled up on a pillow with mommy and daddy! Are they not the cutest little girls!! I am so proud! :)

Oh how I love my silly Daddy!! (Lilly and Eric have some couch time while watching the Olympics together.

We ventured out to Waco on Saturday to visit some of my friends. We have now gone to Austin and Waco...both 1 hour away. The next step (hopefully within a month or so) is going to be to make the 2.5 hour drive to Dallas. I think it will be fine. We have lots of people to visit up there, plus I think my family wants to play with them some more too! :)
This is my good friend Sally. I just love this picture!!! Lilly stared at Sally's necklace for a while and then crashed in this position. She was out cold! By the way, does anyone know where that phrase came from? "Out cold" refers to what?

We had gone by my old apartments to see some of the ladies that live there. Directly below is "Granny", who I have known now for almost 9 years, and below her picture is my adopted grandmother, Margaret. I adore Margaret and she has had a rough last few months. She was so excited to see the girls. I hope it cheered her up. She is a happy lady too, but she was taught as a child not to ever smile for a picture...thus the stern face.

Now for the happy bedtime photos I promised a few days ago. I am so blessed and relieved that my girls are soooooo happy! They just light up and squirm around with big grins. I love it!! These pictures were taken the other night after getting ready for bed. Aren't they precious?!!! Lexi is in white and Lilly is in yellow.

Lilly was checking out her little Winnie the Pooh bears from Tara Rose...I think they are about ready for stuffed animals to become fun!

Update

The girls turned 2 months old yesterday. We are trying to soak in every moment since they will never be this age or this little again. They are doing really well. Three nights ago they slept for almost 5 hours at night and then after a bottle, slept another 4 hours! It was awesome. The next night they slept for 4 hours chunks over night.

I will post a couple pictures of what I like to call, "Bedtime Happy Time" later today. They are only fussy when sleepy or hungry. Otherwise, they will coo and smile and just look around. It's pretty great!
