Chrysalis & Metamorphosis

Maybe it's the biologist in me, but when I looked down in the dirt below our tree last weekend and saw this...

I got a little excited!! The girls have learned about metamorphosis and saw tons of chrysalis' this summer when we visited a butterfly garden and watched some of them breaking open. It was extra cool to see one in your front yard and be able to tell the girls all about it, up close and personal.
Cool looking, huh? :)
So I took lots of pictures and Eric and I are still trying to identify it. We do know it is probably a moth and not a butterfly. We carefully tucked it into a crevice in the tree where we thought it would be safe until it could finish the process. However, I think the fact that it was covered in 3 inches of snow on the tree limb, may mean it is a goner. I checked it today and it was pretty weird looking.

I am just glad the girls got to get a good look at it and explore God's amazing creation a little more.

Warmth and Little Girl Dresses

Before the cold weather of the week rolled in, we had the most gorgeous weekend weather. We spent a lot of time outside playing in our yard and especially in the tree. The girls keep growing and are now wearing mostly size 4T! I have even dressed them in several 5T/XS 4-5 clothes. Wow! How did they get this big so fast?! These dresses were given to them by their older twin cousins. I think they are just too precious, so they climbed the tree and smiled big for Mommy!

Weather

It is sooooooooo cold outside. We made the best of the warm weather all weekend through Monday. We went to the park, the zoo, and played outside for hours. It was so nice.

But then Tuesday came and it got cold. I bundled the girls up on Tuesday morning and took them to see the movie Tangled. That was the extent of our leaving the house for a while. We stocked up on food and we have been eating warm, hearty soups and crockpot meals, all while snuggling in tents to watch an afternoon movie.

I am so ready for Spring!

Easy Valentines Craft

I originally thought I would make these pictures into Valentines that the girls could give their friends. Of course, after the order started being processed, I found even cuter Valentines on WalMart.com and ordered those too. :) I still had 15 of these cute little prints delivered to my house last week. So I decided to be creative with them.

I took some pinking shears (scissors that cut a wavy edge) and cut the shape of a heart around the girls' heads.

They made it easy with this pose...
I got a single-hole, hole punch and "punched" two holes in the sides of the hearts. Then I found some fun pink ribbon...
And laced the ribbon through the hearts. I tied little bows at the ends and hung it up where the girls told me too. :) I gave them 3 options and they chose to hang it over the back door.

I like it! Eric keeps looking at it and exclaiming that his girls are just so sweet and cute. I agree!

Warmth

Talk about GORGEOUS weather! I used to get frustrated when we had warm spells in January, but these girls really need a few days of sunshine amidst the cold days. So we have been soaking in the 7o degree temps. So much so that we give big sister hugs...
Play on our slide and with HUGE smiles...
Scream with glee and gusto...
Let the wind blow our hair...
Lounge on our horse swing...
Swing each other "fast, sister"....

And last, but definitely not least, let Mommy take pictures of our big blue eyes while relaxing in the shade...

I'm hoping that when we have a cold blast move through on Tuesday, maybe these pictures can keep me warm. :)

Chick-Fil-A

Last week, the girls and I were out and about running errands. We picked up some Chick-Fil-A on our way home. I usually just get them nuggets with fruit and then they can share my fries with me if they want some. This particular day, I ran into the kitchen and announced to the girls that I was going to wash my hands really quick and would then make us a picnic in the living room.

I turned around to see this...

I guess they like the fries more than they used to. I think they each ate 3 fries by the time I took the picture and sat down with them. Silly goobers!
